Case Study: Chemical company optimises production with innovative process control
Presse Release
Bad Vilbel, 4th December 2024
The chemical company Ursa-Chemie GmbH is optimising its process control for boilers with the help of the IT company SINOVO business solutions GmbH in order to efficiently replace production processes with user-friendly and secure software. What challenges existed, how were they solved and what customer benefits resulted?
Challenge: modernising process control for chemical boilers
The previous, well-thought-out process control for boilers from Ursa-Chemie (https://www.ursa-chemie.de/) no longer met modern standards. Maintenance and use were complicated, which made the production process more difficult.
Martin Drabowicz, Unit Manager at SINOVO for the development of individual software (https://www.sinovo.de/de/softwareentwicklung/individualsoftware/), emphasises: ‘The goal was to implement a new process control that is both user-friendly and efficient.’ In cooperation with us as a partner, the following four requirements were defined:
- Modernisation of the graphical user interface for visualising production instructions
- Detailed control of the individual process steps
- Introduction of an authorisation concept for access and action control
- Preparation and transfer of instructions to the production software
Solution: comprehensive reorganisation of the boiler process control
SINOVO implemented an innovative solution for the process control of the boilers in just seven stages, which fully met the requirements of Ursa-Chemie:
- Drawing up a detailed specification and conducting a risk analysis
- Design of a modern and user-friendly interface
- Implementation of a secure login system for employees
- Implementation of the desired authorisation concept at the production step level
- Integration of overview pages for real-time monitoring of the system status
- Execution of integration tests and creation of comprehensive test reports
- Installation of the system and execution of retests as well as training for end users and administrators
Results: simplified use, more efficient processes and improved data security
Thanks to the new boiler control system, Ursa-Chemie benefits from five valuable advantages:
- Simplified administration of user data
- Optimised overview of production steps, process times and protocols
- Improved documentation for developers and users
- Enhanced data and production security through centralised verification of identities and authorisations
- Seamless integration of corporate design into the software
Customer benefit: future-roof process control for everyday production
The user-friendly interface makes it easy to follow process steps, while the security mechanisms ensure that sensitive data is protected.
And the integrated authorisation concept increases security in the production process.
‘We are confident that the new control system will equip us perfectly for future challenges’, says Margaux-Sarah Zaufenberger, Project & IMS Manager at Ursa-Chemie.
